They switch over so I get the audio from the main (HDMI) picture.
I've managed to get this working with a bit of a workaround, I'll leave the details in case anyone else has something similar.
The audio on the PIP (hdmi) works when I disable the displayport audio on the PC. If I re-enable is and put some audio through it (i.e the main picture) the PIP HDMI audio is immediately disabled and I can't get it back without disabling the displayport audio and rebooting (which brings the hdmi PIP audio back).
My solution is to disable the dispalyport audio and use the audio output on the rear of my PC. I have speakers that will take two inputs so I have one input going in from the back of my PC and one going in from the audio out on my monitor.
If choosing HDMI as PIP and you lose HDMI audio, what happens if you choose HDMI as the main, and DP as the PIP. Do you then lose DP audio? If yes, then it sounds like audio and PIP are not engineered together.
