Thanks for the suggestion, mine is also turned sideways, and I'm going to try your suggestion right away. Seems like it's often the small mechanical things that bring down fine equipment. Will let you know what happens.
I have a 24" Dell monitor, and I couldn't turn it off. I rang dell cause it's under warranty, and they were going to send me a new one. Then I noticed that the power button was slightly sideways, ie the little stroke pointing vertial wasn't. If you get my drift. I got a piece of sticky tape and using the sticky side out i used it to turn the button back to vertical , then it came back to normal. I'm surprised that Dell didn't mention this fix to me when I rang, surely it would be cheaper for them to not have to replace it when all it is is a button which seems to have a lock built in????
It worked! The button, however, doesn't have any spring to it, and is still sunken into the face of the monitor. I think it must be nearly worn out. Will continue to use the tape and hope that Dell will have a more technically advanced solution.
