Not a single response from any Dell support operative, and now after being patient (this is how long it has taken) my monitor has finally refreshed and come out of its deep sleep.
What an absolutely crazy defect in a product. I really would like to know what the actual cause is (it's been reported enough on the forums) and the quickest 'official' way to revive the monitor.
This is a user to user Forum, not a user to Dell forum. Although we do step in at times and reply to customers, that is not our primary role.
Disconnecting the monitor power cord from the bottom of the monitor and holding in the monitor power button for 10 seconds should do a "reset" of the monitor.
In this testing, we would only want: Dell power cord Dell DVI cable connected to monitor DVI 1 (left most when viewed from the rear of the monitor), other end into the computer video card DVI port
I think your mother board display power week. So you try external VGA Graphic card used and solved you problem. But supported Graphic card used, if same problem then reinstall windows, because installation time show problem in graphics related then you clear which device problem create. If not possible installation contact good Dell engineer.

Hi Chris.
Thanks. You'll have spotted it took a week for my monitor to reset.
I tried the 10secs a number of times.
I tried 24 hours more than once and then left it for 3 days.
It's a crazy scenario.

In this testing, we would only want:
Dell power cord
Dell DVI cable connected to monitor DVI 1 (left most when viewed from the rear of the monitor), other end into the computer video card DVI port
Then, test the monitor DVI 2 port.
