U2413f Monitor changes between mac computers

Hi,

I have the U2413f monitor that I use as a second for photo editing. I use a mac with the maverick OS. I had the U2413 monitor for over two years and it worked great, until it died. So, Dell ended up having to replace the monitor two times with refurbished monitors that had flickers or waves. They replaced the second refurbished monitor with the new U2413F model. The monitor works well except for the fact that the monitor isn't crisp. If I plug the monitor into a 2010 Macbookpro it becomes crisp, but with my 27 inch late 2012 desktop Mac and 2013 Macbook pro the monitor goes soft. Also, HDMI cables wont work with the monitor at all. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Thanks.

OS X has an issue with displayport (thunderbolt) right now that outputs the wrong color and basically thinks the Dell displays are televisions. You have to force OS X to output RGB. Here's a thread that describes how to do that: http://embdev.net/topic/284710

Don't know about the HDMI issue, but forcing RGB should fix the "soft" look you're getting. It worked for me on a 2013 MacBook Pro with the U2413f monitors.
