U2419H, side USB ports usage?
Hello Guys,
I have the DELL U2419H Monitor and there are some USB ports on the left side of the Monitor.
I would like to know what can these USB Ports be used for ?
Please see the attached image of which ports in particular that I am talking about.

Any specific reason that you do not recommend using a wireless chargers from the USB Port of the DELL Monitor ? I mean if using a wireless charger is going to harm the DELL Monitor then I would stop doing that, but if you are just saying this because it would not optimally make use of the Wireless Charger and hence would not charge my device at the same speed and efficiently as plugging into a Electric Power Source, I am ok with it. I have tested it a couple of times, It does take a little longer normally this way to get your device charged. But eventually it does charge my device to a maximum 100% as required. And one more thing the Workers Charge works even in the other Downstream USB Port which does not have the BC 1.2 indicator on it and that you even without connecting the USB Upstream cable.

Those are operating system questions. The operating system is in charge of the USB drivers that it uses through the PC chipset drivers. The monitor itself is passive. The monitor does not dictate to the operating system how USB drivers are used.

What about any harm ? Does getting any device charged from the USB Downstream Port especially using the Wireless Charger does it.pose any harm to the working or the Life of the Monitor ? I thought you were not recommending it because it would cause any harm to the working or the Life of the Monitor ? is that so ?

If you don’f care about slower charging speeds, then go ahead and use the wireless charger with your display’s USB ports. Yes, it is normal for charging to work even when no upstream cable is attached. A wireless charger is not a device that requires a connection to your PC in order to function, so if you only plan to charge devices rather than use anything like a keyboard, flash drive, etc. in those ports, then you don’t need that upstream cable. If you DO want to use those types of devices AND a wireless charger, then you WILL need an upstream cable, and in that case I can’t help you on the driver message. But you can probably just ignore it.

No, typically if I see someone contemplate something that I think will damage their equipment, I mention that right away. Potentially reduced performance, which is the only thing I called out, is not the same as risk of damage, which I do not believe exists here.

And with potentially reduced performance you mean in this case not getting optimum charging out of connecting a Wireless Charger and the device getting longer to be charged ? Not reduced performance of the Monitor in anyways Right ?

Actually I have one more question left which I am still not clear about. So with the USB Upstream Cable Connected the USB Downstream Ports on the Monitor can give upto 2 AMP of output, and the one port of the two on the Monitor also supports BC 1.2 but this is only if the device which you wanna charge also supports 1. But my question here is even without the device that you wanna charge supports BC 1.2 Any which ways You are only going to get 2 AMP out of the USB Downstream Port so how does it matter if the device supports BC 1.2 or not like for e.g. even if it supports it is only going to get 2 AMP of power from the USB Downstream Port on the Monitor and even if it does not the same 2 AMP. Then how does it make a difference ? Unless the USB Downstream Port which also has a BC 1.2 Icon on it along with the 2 AMP gives any more Power Output as it also supports BC 1.2

Hey Chris,
I have a question, actually a follow up question to what we discussed months back, but I am still confused. So on the Downstream Ports, There are two downstream Ports on the Dell U2419H Monitor that I have, One which also supports BC 1.2 and one which does not. So I was told when a Upstream Port is connected, the Downstream Port with BC 1.2 icon supports 2 AMP of charging, but I would like to know how much output does the other Downstream Port gives which is without the BC 1.2 when the Upstream Port is connected ? is that also 2 AMP ?
Thanks
