@Pete the man  Yes, your E6520 can support 2560x1440 resolution, as long as you use appropriate cabling to connect to the display.

@Pete the man  I'll assume you meant to say that you can't get the max resolution with a DVI cable.  But the reason is that the DVI outputs on the Dell E-Port dock do not support 2560x1440 resolution.  But the DisplayPort outputs do, and the U2711 has a DisplayPort input.  So get a regular DisplayPort cable instead, switch your U2711 to use its DisplayPort input, and you'll be all set.

@Pete the man  Sounds like you're looking at the resolution of the built-in display.  You can check the specs of the Intel GPU in that system by looking on Intel's page if you're concerned though.

why i f plug the monitor on a pc directly i have the resolution from dvi port then is it because of the max resultion from the dvi port on the dock ?

Thanks

Thanks

@Pete the man  2560x1440 over DVI is possible if the interface is dual link DVI.  The U2711's DVI input supports dual link DVI, and many PCs with DVI outputs also support dual link DVI.  But the E-Port dock only supports single link DVI, in which case the max resolution is 1920x1200.
