Just to add that these monitors are very expensive, therefore build quality and quality control should be top notch. Nobody should be experiencing issues like these.
Having spoken to my computer guy who also knows how to repair LCD screens. What he told me is that one monitor is calibrated and setup properly from the factory. The other monitor with the whites being too bright and oversaturated has not been setup correctly in the factory in terms of contrast/brightness settings. Default settings for both contrast/brightness are 50. What my computer guy said is that you should not have to adjust the contrast at all and just have to tweak the brightness which is exactly what I had to do with one monitor. However the one with the oversaturated and bright whites would require the contrast to be reduced to get the image right. As previously mentioned, all Dell Ultrasharp models should be perfectly setup before leaving the factory and without any issues. If you are running a dual set up monitor display, then both monitors should be virtually identical in terms of contrast/brightness settings. Having experienced this myself, I will not be buying Dell again unless build/quality control improve considerably. Please could my comments be passed onto the highest level at Dell HQ. Thanks
I will pass this thread on to the Displays team. The choice of panel used is based on which monitor manufacturer gives Dell the best price. All Dell monitor panels are uniquely calibrated at the factory to their own unique panel. They are not compared to each other on the factory line. No two panels are identical, even of the SAME model. The color and tint may not match between the two but still be within manufacturer specifications. If you want the closest match, you will need to purchase calibration hardware (colorimeter) and software. Then calibrate both monitors.
Hi Chris M, thanks for your reply and help with this. Also thanks for passing on my comments to the Displays team. I just hope that Dell are not doing what they did with their Dell 2007WFP monitor which I did own at one point. It was a lottery panel with regards to whether you got a good one or not, as Dell were using 2 different manufacturers for the panel, one being significantly better than the other. Having read a few other forum threads on the subject, other people are also experiencing similar issues with the 2715H in my original post, whereas others are not. Something seems to have gone wrong somewhere and I do sincerely hope that Dell can get these quality issues sorted as when they get things right, they make some really nice monitors.
