U3014 Display Port 1.2 Daisy chaining does not work for third Monitor

S/N cn-0j3y9n-74445-4c3-a03l

model u3014

OS windows 8.1 64bit

GPU Asus ROG Ares III

GPU Driver ver 14.12 amd catalyst omega

avail video out is 1 display port 1.2 capable, 1 dvid, 1-hdmi

currently using the display port out on gpu to 1st monitor display port in  then via display port out to second display port in then dvid to third. 1.2 is enabled on all three

using startech 6ft display port cables p/n displport6l on all three monitors third monitor also has supplied dvid cable configured and in use.

res is 2569x1600

All three purchased from Dell

Cannot get the third monitor to accept the display port setting. I have tried swapping cables around and the issue stays with the third monitor. In the amd catalyst control center two monitors say they are multi stream capable and those are the ones working off the display port connection. The third monitor does not say it is capable of multi stream yet 1.2 is enabled. Suggestions please on how to rectify this issue

Thanks in advance Bernie

"All three purchased from Dell", all three what? Three U3014?

Disconnect the DVI cable from the video card and the 3rd monitor and test in this way =

Video card DP out --> DP to DP cable --> Monitor 1 DP in (DP 1.2 enabled)
Monitor 1 DP out --> DP to DP cable --> Monitor 2 DP in (DP 1.2 enabled)
Monitor 2 DP out --> DP to DP cable --> Monitor 3 DP in (DP 1.2 enabled)

Hi Chris

yes all three u3014 and I forgot to mention rev a04.

followed what you said and the third monitor says there is no dp cable plugged in and will go to sleep in 5 min and of course it is plugged in. also tried moving cables around same result,  this was my original configuration.

So all three U3014 always work as Primary and Secondary, but never Tertiary using DP 1.2 enabled on all. If so, that sounds like a video card or video card driver limitation. Test this =

Video card DVI out --> DVI to DVI cable --> Primary U3104 DVI in 2560x1600
Video card DP out --> DP to DP cable --> Secondary U3014 DP in (DP 1.2 enabled) 2560x1600, Extended
Secondary U3014 DP out --> DP to DP cable --> Tertiary U3014 DP in (DP 1.2 enabled) 2560x1600, Extended

Does the Tertiary appear in the Displays?

Any monitor using DVI is not multi stream capable.

ok Chris I made one dvi out as primary

secondary is dp 1.2 enabled

tertiary is dp 1.2 enabled

all work

currently the third monitor the one that does not work in dp in previous configs says it is not multi stream capable. in its current config it is dvi primary. should I try making it dp primary? My thought is if there were an issue with this monitor not being multi stream capable then it should not work at all to send a signal to a secondary monitor??

Chris I have decided to take it back to basics and disconnected two monitors. I cannot get the third to work from the display port period as an only monitor
