I bought the monitor 2 weeks ago and I saw this happening two times. My impression is that it happened just after I turned it on, flickered for 5-10 seconds and then stopped. I'm connected via USB-C too.
Just want to add that my flickering is more a fast bouncing between full brightness and a slightly lower brightness. It wasn't a full dim to black. Or it is so fast that I perceive it like that.
To receive assistance from Dell support, they need to first check the warranty status. Click the "Get help now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. Provide to them the private U3223QE Service Tag, all of the data below, and all of your troubleshooting.
* What PC model? * What operating system? * What PC GPU video card model? * Are you testing using the provided U3223QE 1m/3.2ft USB-C to C cable? * The U3223QE #5 USB-C Video + Data port only provides up to 90W back to PC. Connect the provided AC power adapter to the PC and retest. Same issue? * Test PC DP --> U3223QE DP to DP cable --> U3223QE DP, same issue? * Test PC HDMI --> retail HDMI to HDMI cable --> U3223QE, same issue?
After some additional days it definitely seems like it depends on what is on screen. In particular conditions the flickering starts, and if I slightly move a window it stops, if I put the window back where it was it starts again. Consistently.
I am having similar (the same?) issue. Seems to happen when most of the screen displays dim colors, e.g. webpage in dark mode. It does go away if I change color profile, disable true tone etc. but I want to use true tone on my Mac and I want to be able to use different color profiles.
I'm running Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68) on a M1 Pro 16" MBP and connected using included usb-c to usb-c cable. tried changing settings on display and mac.
I am attaching one photo (maybe it will work for you) that when viewed full screen and combined with settings: true tone disabled, color profile "Dell_U3223QE_Native_v2" from dell site and colors on display set to "color temp 6500K" makes my screen always flicker.
But changing the usb priority it actually make the hub an usb2 hub (480mbs), which is unacceptable. So I gave up with single usb-c cable and moved to a dual cable: usb-c -> usb-c for the hub and usb-c -> DP for video. Let's see how it goes.
Turned out that using two different cables reduced significantly the occurrence of the problem but not completely. I rarely still see the flickering in some conditions.
Seems like that this require some firmware update from Dell.
I'm experiencing the same problem here. Not adding much value but just wanted to confirm the assumption that this definitely happens depending on what is displayed on the screen.
I followed your instructions, it works. I just had to switch between the different color options on the monitor to force it and the flickering showed up. It shows and slowly fades away within minutes, but it's here...
I am at my 2nd monitor as I returned the 1'st and the same thing happened after 30 min of use. I called in and now I'm going to receive the 3'rd one. symptoms:
- screen burn in, even in self diag mode, although no cables are attached
- super annoying flicker and artefacts while using usb -c , hdmi or dp.
- the fix someone marked as FIXING the issue, does not fix it in anyway, and even if it did, it's unacceptable to use this monitor at 30 hertz..this is clearly an engineering issue, and I assume this is commonly known issue, although no one bats an eye.
I've had the same issues with my monitors and replaced one already, changed the USB-C cables a few times and back to the original, and am on a HP 850 G8. Ran many driver updates and am up to date there. Running USB-C to first monitor, Display to second monitor. Both U3223QE at 30 hertz. There's an issue here with Dell that needs to be looked into.

Also when default color profile is used (and no true tone) it still flicker in some scenes but I'm yet to find stable reproduction image.
