I can see people are having similar issues with Dell Monitor firmware update, I start suspecting if this is new firmware issue.

Here’s what I did, can we please have your engineer look into the logs? I can see the logs are very detail, maybe we can find the reason from the logs.

1. Change to another laptop (Microsoft Surface Pro 5 with Windows 10) with a standard USB-A port
2. Factory reset my U3223QZ using On-Screen Display Menu
3. Unplug all cables
4. Plug in only power cable and USB upstream cable (direct, no dock or other device between), using the USB-A to USB-C cable provided from monitor
5. Update firmware with USB upstream connecting to port #5, see attached log
6. Repeat steps #2 to #4 on USB upstream connecting to port #7, see attached log

after digging around with the log, I can see some errors like this:

The U3223QZ monitor has a 4K webcam, which the firmware updating tool is stucking with

but I'm pretty sure the webcam is functioning evevyday. 

Be careful. The logs showed your private Service Tag three times. Those were deleted.

While running on M2T101 firmware, you failed to state if you currently have any of the issues that M2T102 fixed?
1. Fix Color Preset mode reverting to Standard (default) mode, after HDR setting is enable/disable
2. Improved Touch button LED lighting upon connection
3. Upgrade Webcam AI engine to support Auto-Framing 2.0. Webcam transition method, sensitivity and frame size are user adjustable.
4. Improved Webcam HDR IQ Increase the brightness of face in high contrast scene.
5. Improved Webcam Auto focus speed and accuracy.
6. Update Cortana audio profile.
7. Fix audio volume disruption during DC power off/on while connecting to an active audio source.

Surface Pro 8 and Surface Laptop Studio only have USB-C as the video output, Surface Pro 5 has mini displayport

Yes

I was having similar problems of trying to update firmware from a laptop, and the update failing about 15 minutes into the process, something about 'write protection error'; two attempts.

I then followed some of the instructions in this discussion, and thankfully the update succeeded.

In this instance, I was updating from M2T101 to M2T106.
