U3419W, USB downstream ports usage?

Does the Dell U3419W support using the side and rear USB downstream ports with only the USB Type-C cable? It seems that this should be possible as most USB Type-C hubs have the same number of ports, charging, and video.

If not, then how do I configure the monitor to support video/power over USB and still use the built-in USB downstream ports?

When a PC is connected using the U3419W USB Type-C in port, the USB Type-C cable acts as the provided USB upstream cable. The only caveat is possible bandwidth constraints from the PC.

When a PC is connected using the U3419W HDMI/HDMI/DP in ports, for that PC to have access to the USB downstream ports you must also connect the provided USB upstream cable to both the PC and the U3419W USB upstream port.

Note, there are two USB upstream ports. So you have to enter the Menu- USB Selection and set/select the one you are using. See page 48 in the online U3419W User's Guide.

None of the USB ports are working when I connect the laptop via USB-C.  I have a low power USB headset plugged into the left side ports and it doesn't even turn on.

* Test the USB headset on the other three USB downstream ports
* What PC model is the U3419W USB Type-C cable connected?
* What AC power adapter shipped with the PC? The U3419W USB Type-C port only delivers up to 90 W (see page 32)

* When you do connect the provided USB 3.0 upstream cable to both, the USB headset then works?

Thanks for reaching out to us.

I’m Prashanth from the Dell Social Media team. I understand that you're facing issue in connecting the USB device via Monitor, is that correct? Please be assured that I will look into this and help you with the best available options to have this resolved for you at the earliest.

1. Are you trying to connect the headset or the device via port for the first time?
2. If you have any USB keyboard/Mouse, try connecting it to the Monitor USB port and check if the power supplied and if the device is detected.

This is the first time I am connecting devices to this new monitor.

I connected an apple keyboard with a USB-A cable to the side of the monitor and it is not detected.

* So now we are discussing two USB devices, the USB headset and now an Apple keyboard

* What PC model is the U3419W USB Type-C cable connected?
* What AC power adapter shipped with the PC? The U3419W USB Type-C port only delivers up to 90 W (see page 32)

* When you do connect the provided USB 3.0 upstream cable to both the PC and the U3419W, the USB headset then works?
