U4919DW, macOS Ventura not working

In safe mode, it worked. I deleted all pre-login items and apps from macOS. But in normal startup, the U4919DW gives a pixel image regardless if I change the resolution. I have another Dell monitor which is P series 24" and it worked in normal startup of the same laptop. Only the Dell U4919DW cannot work in normal startup. I have also updated the latest firmware and DDPM listed in the Dell website. Please advise as I have no idea what to do next?

Dell cannot know what Apple changed from macOS 12 Monterey to macOS 13 Ventura. But whatever Apple did change, it created many issues with our Dell monitors that were previously working fine in macOS 12 Monterey. See the Apple Forum threads.

Did this 1 year/5 months old U4919DW have this issue with macOS 12 Monterey?

In your picture, the MacBook Pro LCD itself is messed up. Are you saying that if you disconnect the MacBook Pro from the U4919DW, the MacBook Pro LCD then looks correct?

Read these threads on the Apple Forum.

HI Chris, This monitor works well with Monterey OS. In MacOS Ventura, my laptop looks correct after I disconnect from the U49 monitor as it is in MIRROR mode. If I set it to EXTEND DISPLAY mode, only the U49 monitor is pixel image while the laptop is displaying correctly.

In normal startup of the same laptop, it works in P series but not U49. Images as of today.P24screen2Jan.jpgu49screen2jan.jpg

I have the same issue with Macbook Pro 2021, using U4919DW on Ventura 9.

I had a similar issue that I'm currently working through.

The Dell U4919DW Monitor firmware needs to be on M2B108.

Once the firmware is updated, the Mac will connect only after a complete monitor power off (switching off at the power switch).

I have not worked out how to get the Dell U4919DW monitor to do a complete power cycle using the monitor buttons. I currently have to do a manual power off/on at the plug.  It appears the off/on switch on the monitor puts it into energy save mode only.

@DELL-Chris M Is there a way to power cycle the monitor directly using the monitor buttons?

The U4919DW User's Guide page 41 states that the Power button is for On and Off. Settings for standby or energy save would be derived from the user operating system. But even when off, the U4919DW still has power consumption of 0.2 W. Also, the PC connected via USB-C is still sending a signal to the U4919DW. So the method you are using is the only way to break those connections.

I have the same problem with the recent update to Ventura. Through my debugging I found a cheap workaround. Which is putting the monitor in PBP mode FIRST then connect the MacBook to your monitor then you will at least be able to use half your screen. If the MacBook is connected to the monitor using the full screen then changed to PBP mode it might still be distorted. Also, disconnect the Macbook from the monitor BEFORE moving back to the full-screen mode.  It may cause the screen to be distorted  on just the Macbook

Again, it's just a cheap workaround while Apple figures out a way to come up with a solution

Found another temporary fix not sure of the total ramifications of it but here's a screenshot and the link.

the issue seems to have been resolved with Mac OS Beta 13.5 release. I updated yesterday and my monitor is working again.
