I used the removal utility and reinstalled everything nvidia which didn't work. However then I accidentally changed the contrast setting in dell display manager and now everything is fine.
For future references, on my Dell UP2715K with Windows 10 and Nvidia GTX 980, I was able to solve this problem by installing the newest version of Dell Display Manager and adjusting the contrast within the application. The UP2715K driver may need to be installed. But I do not believe it is necessary. System restore and changing active drivers changed nothing, as well as resetting monitor settings.
What specific computer model? What specific GPU video card? What video out ports are on the GPU video card? What video out port are you using from the GPU video card to what video in port on the monitor? What cable are you using to attach the GPU video card to the monitor? What operating system? What resolution are you using?
This does not sound like a monitor fault because some modes do not show the issue. It sounds like the video card is failing to produce the two 2560x1440 tiles side by side in all modes. Test all modes using one cable at 4K2K 3840x2160 60Hz, two 1920x1080 tiles side by side. Same issue?
I tested it with a mini-dp to full dp cable and my Dell XPS 12 laptop and no modes had that error. I updated the driver for my gtx 960 but the error still occurs.
Sometimes drivers (actually all the time) leave behind junk that can get corrupt when updating or even uninstalling, hence there are 3rd party tools for nvidia and ati cards to get rid of it all so you can start afresh.
May or may not help but it is good practice to remove and install rather than upgrade drivers.
Sounds like a borked config on DDM. If you look in the install directory for DDM C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Dell Display Manager\ There is a readme file that outlines the command lines you can use with DDM.
There are ways to force a reset at the command line, which can help troubleshoot problems, and eliminate the possibility of it being DDM as a root cause.

5120*2880
GTX 960 2 Full sized Displayport cables which came with the monitor.
Windows 10
Also I don't seem to get this problem when the monitor is set to the CAL1, CAL2 or paper modes.
Thanks,
D

Yes same issue tested with each cable.
Again those 3 modes show no issue.
Thanks,

Is there another computer to test the monitor on? Or a different video card to install in that computer to test on?

So what should I do?
Contact Nvidia's support?

That points to the GTX 960 driver or the card itself as the culprit.

Reinstall the latest GTX driver from Nvidia. Test a different video card in the computer.

I have reinstalled the driver and it didn't help.
I can't test another video card in my desktop since I don't have one.

Try completely removing the video card driver first, reboot, then resinstall it.
You could download DDU (display driver uninstaller) from:
www.guru3d.com

Good points. I would still get another video card in there to test. You can buy one locally.

Glad you got it sorted tho :-)
