Using U2415b with two laptops (alternating, one at a time)
A look through the forums suggest that this questions hasn't been hashed before. If it has, please point me to it and accept my apologies.
I alternate my Dell U2415b monitor between two different laptops. Right now I simply unplug the HDMI cable from the first laptop and plug it into the second. This is
- inconvenient and
- might ruin the HDMI female plug(s) on both laptops over time.
I'm looking for a way to use the monitor with both computers (one at a time, not simultaneously!) with minimal plugging/unplugging.
I prefer HDMI, but one of the laptops is a Macbook Pro, so Displayport might be usable too.
I realize I could get an HDMI switch, but that adds clutter to my desk. It's what I plan to do if it turns out to be the best option. But the monitor has so many input ports. Surely there's a way to leverage its built-in capabilities?
All input gratefully accepted.

Laptop HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U2415 HDMI in
MacBook mDP out --> U2415 mDP to DP cable --> U2415 DP in
Press the U2415 Menu button, go to to Input Source to switch between DisplayPort and HDMI.
