factory resets on dell 1905FP ultra sharp flat panel monitor

having pressed the factory reset on one of our two 1905's the boot up screen now consists of black and blue rectangles some of which are incomplete  this has neither effected the subsequent boot sequence nor the working of the monitor which is as one would expect of a top rate dell product just fine; however, in spite of every combination of adjustments the original black start up screen will not return

1 what if anything went wrong ?

2 can the original black and preferred screen be returned by readjustment of the settings ?
