problem with Dell E172FPt

okay so i wasnt sure this was the place to put it so i just gave it a shot i was given the monitor from a friend with kids, whos kids did SOMETHING to it in order for the screen to look like this: Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Photobucket - Video and Image Hostingi was told it was the LCD and that its unrepairable but i wanted to make sure there was absolutely nothing i could do considering the screen looks perfect and theres absolutely nothing wrong with the actual LCD screen itself. it looks like something with something else. have any of you ever seen anything like this before, or know if i could buy another monitor thats exactly the same, say with a broken power supply input then just switch the screens or something?

diablossoul,

How does it look in safemode?
* Power the system off
* Power the system on
* At the blue Dell, tap F8 to bring up the Windows boot menu
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode [Press the Enter Key]
* Select the first or only operating system [Press the Enter Key]

What about during the monitor Self Test?
* Turn off both your computer and the monitor
* Unplug the video cable (either the VGA or DVI) from the back of the computer. They should never be connected at the same time to one video card
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background)
* Let this dialog box float around the screen while looking for your issue. If the issue is present in this mode, the monitor is faulty. If the issue is not present in this mode, then look to the video card driver or the video card itself as the culprit
