HyperV backup fails for one guest

we have some big HyperV servers. They are backed up with NMM 3.0.1.2.280.

On one HV server always the same guest vm fails. We only get an generic error message: The code is: 0x800423f3.

There are no messages in the eventlogs of HV server or guest. The HV server was already rebooted.

What could be the reason why the VM backup fails?

regards

Bernd

Not related to NW, but perhaps reusable steps to troubleshoot:

Hyper-V Backup VSS Error 0x800423F3 – Event ID 22 and Event ID 12292

troubleshooting ( Hyper-V ) vss issues using diskshadow

so no Need to search external Forums

If you say really big, is there a timeframe you can see from taking first VM into Backup / Checkpoint to the last ? there is a Default VSS timeout of 30 Minutes.

Aso check if latest Version of Integration Utils as well as a Virtuals SCSI HBA are present ! ( needed inside vm for guest Level )

otherwise, chck nmmraw and applog for more Details !

... and if you go for support ticket, they will probably have you test it with 3.0.1.3 so you may wish to do that yourself before (latest, greatest and safest) - note your client needs to be 8.1.2.5+ for that release.
