Networker Management Console not starting up?
Networker version 7.4 SP2, OS Win Server 2003.
We are having problems logging into the NMC on the Networker Server. When entering the correct username and password details (admin login), we get the error "could not authenticate this username and password...please try again".
After trying to login a couple of times, it kills the EMC GST service, then you get an error "problem contacting (servername); connection refused connect".
I have looked on Powerlink and found a similar issue, but the resolution doesn't apply in our situation as there is no other application using port 2638.
Powerlink fix below:
https://solutions.emc.com/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg69139
I can't even view the lgto_gst.log file to diagnose what is going wrong. Obviously we know the library and system is working as we can issue commands and everything is running except the console.
Is there a way to rebuild the NMC GST database if its corrupted perhaps? Is there anything else that I can try?
Many thanks.

You can accessing the NMC from another host using this URL
http://backupserver:9000
If you have not changed the default the Login name is "Administrator" with a capital "A"
Look at your server event viewer for any warnings or errors.

You can reinstall NMC without deleting the NMC DB ( you will be prompted) and try it and if this does not work then you will have to do a complete reinstall of the NMC.

I've tried restarting the EMC GST service many times, but it won't let me login with same errors as above then kills the EMC GST service, tried with Administrator and administrator.
System event logs show stop and restart of GST service, app event logs show Networker media event messages, nothing related to the NMC errors I'm experiencing.
Is there a way for me to rebuild the NMC database, as I noticed from command line that the GST db backup failed last night...maybe this could be part of the problem.
I don't want to have to re-install the console, can anyone help me?

Check your Java seetings?
One long shot, check your browser security and your popup blocker status.
You may find yourself spending more time tying to find out the reason instead of reinstalling.

I just tried this using a web browser http://servername:9000 and it started up the console, allowed me to enter the NMC username and password then it sits there and does nothing, just the same as if I loaded the console from the NMC shortcut on the desktop.
Any other ideas?
