Unable to decrypt data: BAD_DATA error

This one's purely for getting this error logged into Google, as I couldn't find a solution online.

I upgraded my NetWorker Server from 8.2.2.4 to 8.2.3.2 yesterday and it became unusable due to the above error.  This was showing up when:

Opening the "Monitoring" or "Devices" tabs in NMC

Attempting to mount DD volumes via nsrmm

Also, I was unable to open the server properties page.

This was down to the "datazone pass phrase" being blanked (no clue why) during the upgrade.  Fixed by re-entering via:

nsradmin

. type: nsr

update datazone pass phrase:

and restarting NMC.

I was concerned about potential lockout if the passphrase I entered was incorrect, but I figured I could redo it using nsradmin -d /nsr/res/nsrdb with the backup services down.  It's also one where if you need to reset this at some stage, ensure that you can recover data backed up using the encryption directive as this is the phrase required within NetWorker to unencrypt this data.

As to why a lack of it broke my DD devices, I have no clue.  But that's why I'm posting it here.

Step 1:

Windows:

-Open up an administrative command prompt and type:

nsradmin

Non Windows:

-Log in as root ant type:

nsradmin

Step 2:

This will bring you to the nsradmin prompt: nsradmin>

-Type:

option hidden (this will show all attributes of the Networker Server)

p type:NSR (This will print and put you in the NSR resource)

You should see an attribute for the NSR resource called 'datazone pass phrase'

You will need to update this attribute:

-Type:

update datazone pass phrase:

-when it asks to update type yes

Log back into NMC and look at the properties of your Networker Server without any issues.
