Volume Shadows Copy in Win2008 and Networker 7.6
Hello to everyone,
my Networker configuration is:
- Networker Server: Windows Server 2003 R2 32bit running Networker Server 7.6.0 x32
- Networker Client: Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit running Networker Client 7.6.0 x64
The backup of Windows 2008 doesn’t work, it return me the following error:
Server.domain.corp D:\folder full 19.05.10 11:12:43 00:00:22 1 retry attempted No full backups of this save set were found in the media database; performing a full backup ERROR: VSS failed to get comp=BCD FileGroup list, writer=ASR Writer, error=0x80070008: Not enough storage is available to process this command. in directives 7154:save: Unable to set up VSS filesystem directives. Failed to back up D:\folder.
I couldn’t disable VSS because disabling VSS isn’t supported in Networker 7.6 and Windows 2008.
I’m trying to diagnose the problem by following this MS article:

But the command “vssadmin list writers” reports no errors.
Could you help me?

Slight correction on my last post, 7.6 does not currently support but if you install 7.5.2 this does currently have support for Windows 2008 R2 - sorry for the inacurate post as I only looked at the versions you quoted.

Currently windows 2008 R2 is not supported within any NetWorker version. We are expecting to introduce support at 7.6.1 which is due to be released soon.
There is a Support solution on Powerlink which details the error you are seeing and that Support is due to be introduced this quarter (esg107680), so please look out for announcements.

You are right, now the backup works in mixed environments ( Networker Server 7.6.0 + Networker Client 7.5.2).

Am I reading this right? It will work with 7.5.2 but not in 7.6?

Hi Guys
Right!!! this is very helpful . but i am also having VSS issue ,
structure is below:-
Backup server : Unix +7.5.2 legato version
client : Win2008 + 7.4.2 legato version
But getting vss error after also update the client version 7.5 instead of 7.4.2 .
any idea how to resolve the issue ?

7.5 like 7.5.2? And what kind of error do you get? If not the same, I would suggest separate thread...

Hello all,
NW client for Windows 7.5.2 is the only version, so far which supports Windows 2008 R2 OS.
Apart from that, even after installing/upgrading to that version there is a change you still get some errors related to VSS.
The error reported is because, by default, Windows 2008 R2 doesn't assign any letter to the reserved partition, so you need to assign manually a letter to that partition from the Disk Manager in order to fix that error.
