cannot restore VM with special characters (Umlaut)

VM was backed up successfully with VADP. VM contains special character (Umlaut) in

one field of vmx config file (annotations). Recovery fails since VM cannot be reconfigured in ESX.

Error message: Operation not permitted in actual state.

Proxy is W2k8R2, NW 8.1.1.5, ESX 5.5.

Is there a way to restore a VMDK from disk device or an other way to bypass this problem?

regards

Bernd

Reference KB 189983 and patch NW161303. This will introduce a pause after the initial vmx file restore, allowing you to edit out the offending characters. The restore can then continue.

If you check NetWorker Release Management thread you will find this has been mentioned few days ago.  Also, you will find KB article for it and 8.1.1.7 contains modified binary which is part of solution.
