Hello All...

Our current backup server is running in Solaris 8 and networker 7.1.3...
In few months time, we are planning to implement few more server upgrade and we are planning to implement SAM/QFS in it.... Some of the people suggested to replace networker by symantac backupexec .. But iam not sure how symantec bacupexec is relaible...
Can any one please let me know how symantec backupexec is reliable than networker and can we use networker to backup SAM/QFS filesystem..

Thanks for your help in advance...

Hey,

we are using NetWorker (Sun version) to backup our SAMFS but we don`t use QFS. We have 3 copies and then every 4 hours an SAMFS dump is done by an script. So you only backup metadata of SAMFS.

I have seen EMC NetWorker implemented with SAMFS. It works fine. As far as I know, backupexec has less features / flexibility as compared to NW.

You can compare BackupExec to Retrospect and NetBackup to NetWorker. Other combinations are not fair as these products are simply for different target audience and customer sizes.
