pre and post script to stop/start SAP for an offile backup with NMSAP module using brtools
Hello ,
Has anybody experience the issues with pre and post script to start and stop SAP for offline backups . In our case , I have included them as PRECMD and POSTCMD . When the backup starts , it starts as root and runs the precmd script which shuts down SAP and DB . Then it assumes orasid role and takes a backup . Once the backup is done , it still uses orasid to start sap and fails because startsap can be issued only by sidadm or root ( then can sudo to sidadm ) . Please let me know if anybody has experienced the same issue and if there is a workaround for this . Thanks !!

I am using offline as backup type , but that would only bring the DB down not SAP

Why do you need to bring whole SAP down? If using NMSAP and brbackup to execute backup, can't see what benefit you can have there?

If you use NMSAP, there is no need for pre and post scripts - simply set offline as backup type.
As for user, you set that in nsrsapsv configuration file.

1) Give orasid sudo access to run startsap.
or
2) Modify your script to run startsap using sidadm or root.
