savegrp: unexpectedly exited
Hello,
I had a backup fails with just this error: Error: savegrp: unexpectedly exited
it does not gve me much information to understand why that failure occurs. how can i check the reason for that?
Appreciate your help.

The backup might be failing due TCP time out . Please follow the steps as mentioned in the following EMC knwoledge base article which will help in resolving your issue .

Hi Mourad,
Is it failing on a certain saveset ? this could be a TCP/IP timeout issue or connection is dropped. Having more output on the error message would help, you should take a look at the daemon.raw to gather more information about the error messages appears at the backup time.
What is the inactivity timeout attribute value in the group properties under the Advanced tab ? If it is 30 please change it to 0 ( Zero) , and check if you have any connectivity or naming resolution issue between backup server and client.
