Advantage of PowerConnect Switches with Dell Servers

Basic question, I need to get a switch to manage a few previous generation Dell PowerEdge servers.  What if any are the advantages of staying with the same vendor and using a Dell PowerEdge switch versus another brand of a managed switches?  Are there network monitoring software advantages to sticking with the same vendor?

Thanks for any thoughts.

A switch is generally just going to provide connectivity between the server and the client you are managing the server from. The Dell switches come with some built in features that can be used with HiveManager. However this management software is for the switch itself, and not for what connects to the switch.

OpenManage is management software for the PowerEdge servers, but is not dependent upon brand of switch used.

I feel like it is beneficial to have a network that is unified in the brand being used. But is by no means any kind of requirement. Working with a network that is a mix of Dell, Cisco, HP, Brocade, can result in more planning/research before implementing a change. And this is mainly due to the different syntax between the switches.

What management software are you using? What switches are currently on your network?
