Best Practice for Surveilance system Network ?? (MLAG+VRRP)

Hi,

I'm newbie to the Dell networking. For the implementation of CCTV system Network, i have designed one topology by using MLAG and VRRP, (Please check the attached diagram). I have some queries related to this. I need active-active Network to achieve redundancy as well as throughput balancing.

1. In layer 3 switch, can i get active-active redundancy by using VRRP?

2. Which spanning tree protocol is ideal for this network?

3. In the Top of the Rack (TOR) Switch, Do i need to use MLAG for throughput balancing?

4. For Access switches when it is stacked using DAC Cable, do i need to do extra configuration since its in MLAG

5. Is there any alternate solution as best practice for this network rather than MLAG?

Switch models : Dell N3024 EF-ON and Dell N1524/N1548.

Hello, unfortunately, we cannot assist you directly with the initial setup, application and/or design. In this sense, I do not want to mislead you. I'm sure there are already people in the community who can help. But I made a nice compilation for you, I think these articles will help.

1. In layer 3 switch, can i get active-active redundancy by using VRRP? Active-Active VRRP mode cab only be called a VRRP-like HA mode
2. Which spanning tree protocol is ideal for this network? RSTP is the best spanning tree protocol for MLAG setup
3. In the Top of the Rack (TOR) Switch, Do i need to use MLAG for throughput balancing? yes
4. For Access switches when it is stacked using DAC Cable, do i need to do extra configuration since its in MLAG ? not required and also refer to guidance
5. Is there any alternate solution as best practice for this network rather than MLAG? MLAG is the recommended best practice.

Hi Young E,
Thanks for your reply!

As MLAG is recommended. I have few more queries regarding MLAG. please help me to clarify.

1. in the newly attached Diagram fig A, 2 Core Switches are stacked as Primary and 2 Core Switches are stacked as Secondary. Then how MLAG will be configured??

2. VRRP Peer link can be connected as shown in the diagram fig A?

3. Instead of show in fig A, can we stack all the four core switches in single stack and use Port channel (please refer fig B)
