Proper use of VLANs in 6224 Switch
Can anyone explain the difference between the two following port configuations in a Dell PowerConnect 6224 switch?
1/
interface ethernet 1/g6
switchport mode general
switchport general allowed vlan add 10
exit
2/
interface ethernet 1/g6
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 10
exit

General ports have an untagged VLAN and pass other VLANs as tagged. Access ports only do a single untagged VLAN. Page 601 http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/Common/powerconnect-6224_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf
