SFP+ Non-qualified pluggable media present Question on S4810

Hi we have some S4810 switches in our DC.

We are getting some packet loss messages from our alerting system.

Looking at the server we cant see any issues.

On looking at the switch using the show interface command 

We are seeing the following Non-qualified pluggable media present, SFP+ type is 10GBASE-CU2M

Should we be worries about this ? or should the DAC be replaced ?

The DAC's are not dell branded could someone point me to a compatibility list for the SFP+'s for the S4810 Force10 switches.

The switch is basically just saying the DAC's are not DELL branded.  In my experience working with DELL networking/storage/server equipment over the past several years, I have used a wide variety of third party TwinAx/DAC cables without issue.  Typically switches are more particular about the brand/programming of optical transceivers, but for the most part TwinAx is similar to Cat5/6 UTP cabling in that most brands can be used across different vendor's equipment without issue.  I highly doubt your packet loss is a result of the non-DELL branded cable, especially given that the switch is not reporting any discards/drops.  You could always swap that one cable out just to be sure, but I'd be surprised if that's it.

I'd try running "show interface | grep discard" to see if any uplinks/other interfaces are showing drops.  If not, I suspect the issue is somewhere else.

I only see 1 CRC and 1 Discarded on the FortyGigE port.

We will look over the config, drivers and firmware level on the hosts to see if an issues are here.

The hosts we see the packet loss on will be rebuilt to new version of esxi in the coming weeks.

1. What exactly is port 0/37 connected to? It says ESXi-iSCSI, but it is a server or target device? 2. Port 0/37 (inbound) is seeing a ton of throttles (i.e. flow control packets). If throttles are at a high rate, then this will impact traffic and even cause timeouts/retransmission related issues. To get a better gauge on the throttle rate, you could clear the counters and check the rate to see how fast the throttles are coming in. Not too worried about the cable, whereas there are no CRCs on the two ports you listed. (except 1).
