2.4GHz router and wireless mouse interference

Hi

I currently own a Netgear router that operates on the 2.4GHz spectrum, and am interested in buying the Logitech VX Revolution wireless mouse. However this also operates on the 2.4GHz spectrum.

I am wondering whether the router will interfere with the mouse or vise versa. And if this is the case what can i do about it?

Replies will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Good call Bill. I couldn't agree more. I have a few items that all run on 2.4, and have never seen anything conflict...If I did have issues with the router, I would try changing its channels in the settings for it...I always do anyhow, since 9/10ths of the world (or at least my neighbors) are on 6 and 11.

Geoff,

There are some folks that think bluetooth is a better technology for cordless mice because its more resistant to radio interference from other devices.  However, its been my experience that all cordless mice have issues, at one time or another, with maintaining connections. I personally don't like cordless mice, but I have a new 47" LCD that my fiance and I want to hook up to a system and so we'll have to go through the same excercise that I'm going to suggest to you.

Locate a re-seller locally (so you won't have to pay for shipping), make sure you understand their return policy and simply buy a bluetooth and the Logitech VX Revolution mouse and just try them out. Test their responses after a certain amount of idle time.  Leave the system on, but idle for 24 hours and then try the response time. This should be enough to determine what is acceptable to you. Oh, and you will have to purchase a bluetooth mouse with a usb receiver if you didn't order a bluetooth card with your Inspiron 640m.

There was a forum thread on logitech's site where a couple of guys commented how they like the Logitech VX Revolution, but requested that a bluetooth version be produced. You might check that out:

There were also some folks on the logitech forum complaining about connection problems, but they didn't indicate if they had a wireless router and there were others that raved about the VX working great out of the box. So, its hard to say whether or not the VX will work out for you.

Bottom line, I don't think you'll have a big problem with interference between the VX Revolution and your router, but save your receipt, just in case.  :)
