mwian,

Try the instructions located at...

Setting up the Dell Wireless Printer Adapter 3300 I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.

When the adapter has all three lights lit, that shows that the printers power is on and it's connected to the network.

On all the XP machines, doing one at a time...

Run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer.

Insert the printer disk, choose network(yes, the desktop will also use the network setup) then follow the instructions.

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.

Links to the patch/drivers(if needed) can be found at...

Dell 962 All-In-One Inkjet Printer owners thread (W7)

On the Windows 7 machine, try running Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here. Include your virus program and firewall.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

I hve run the "delete all the print jobs" and that seems to be sucessful.

I do have the CD that came with the printer but I don't use CD drives. I use memory sticks. I downloaded the printer drivers and utilities from the Dell website.

Many thanks for your reply.

I started working down the instructions.....

I vaguelly remember updating the firmware, but I thought I would do it again, however, I can't seem to find the adapter using the adapters mac address (which is under the adapter).

If I click "advanced", I am asked for a subnet mask and I don't have that information under the adapter.

I have configured the internet router as it was advised in the link.

Any idea about where I am going wrong when trying to update the adapter?

Thanks.

mwian,

If you want to scan a document, you'll need to install the OCR Program from the disk, it's not in the drivers package.

With the printer turned on, are all three lights lit on the 3300? If not, then you'll need to setup the adapter, again. If you did the firmware before, skip that step. I had trouble trying to connect it to the same name network, so find your neighbors network, for the 3300, enter a fake password. It will tell you it failed, then try to connect it to your network, again. All 3 lights need to be green on the 3300.

Thanks again for the reply.

The pizzel gets worse.... but better.

I tried to set the adapter up again and when I clicked on refresh, I got a message telling me that the cable was not connected. After some swapping of cables, I could refresh the list..... so the good thing is, that I managed to detect a faulty cable (which is now out the loop). Strangelly it was the cable I have been using to print and scan when I connect the printer directly to the computer. I have also used the scan function without any problem.

Now that I know about the faulty cable, I replaced it with another cable which I know works. I configured the adapter but it keeps telling me that I can't connect to the network.

As an idea.... if I put another router on the current network as a point of access and tried to connect to that router, could that plan work.....if all the computers connect to the current router. Would the printer through the adapter into another router through a LAN cable into the current router work as a printing solution?

I still can't connect to the network though.
