Actiontec DSL gateway connection

I have a Dell Truemobile 1150 client and I am trying to connect to an Actiontec 1524 DSL gateway. The client manager shows the signal strength as excellent. I have set the network name to be the same as the gateway and security is disabled but I am unable to see anything in the truemobile site monitor. When I edit my truemobile wireless configuration and press the scan button a blank list is displayed. The Actiontec support  people say the gateway is configured properly and that the problem must be with the truemobile client but as far as I can tell everything is ok on that side also.

I'm not familiar with your equipment but you can try setting the gateway to broadcast the SSID. Also, if your equipment is multi-protocol (i.e. a/b/g) try locking it into one protocol. Once you establish a connection you can put everything back one at a time.
