Alienware m11x wireless cannot connect online
Hello
Very pleased with my new laptop; however, could not connect online with my wireless feature .I do have another laptop at home and it can connect with a wireless connection. The m11x can be connected with a wired connection.
I am running a Windows 7 ultimate.
I have tired updating the DW1520 off the dell website, unticking TCP6 (which shouldnt make any difference), enabling and disabling driver, typing IP address and DNS server manually. Another strange thing is, when I connect with wired setting, it says I am also connected wireless. Wireless fails and connects sometimes. Most of the time it fails.
I have tired everything I know and come to the fact that I actually need help.
Regards
Anderson

Anderson,
Not quite sure your wireless card. Try running WinSock XP Fix and see if it helps.
If you have an Intel wireless card installed, try updating the drivers from...
Intel® Driver Update Utility for Intel® wireless adapters

Hi thanks for the reply. The only thing I did not try thinking it only fixes Windows XP. Turns out it solved my problem. Totally stoked. After hours of internet searching and etc. haha Thanks :emotion-2:

Hey back again. Problem still unsolved. Still disconnects. It has a 5 bar signal.
The network adaptor I run on this laptop is DW1520 Wireless-N Half-Mini Card.
Possible a hardware problem? but it is connecting but disconnects.

Okay I just realised my router only supports 802.11bg. Will this matter? The DW1520 Wireless-N only runs 802.11n? and will not work 802.11bg? sorry if it's stupid question. Thanks

Hey I brought a new router. My old one was just too old. Because I was able connect online at uni; even though it was bg protocol.
I cannot guarantee it working; however if your router was Dynalink RTA-1025. You should change it.
