Another Wireless Connection Problem

I have the Inspiron B-130 laptop.  I came with a wireless card already installed.  When we turned on the computer, it FOUND the wireless network, but would not connect.  Dell was kind enough to send a new wireless card.  The card was installed, and again, the laptop will FIND the network, but will not connect.  We have three other computers here that all connect to it without a problem.  Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

As you probably know from reading all of the other forum messages on this forum, you need to ask yourself the following questions.  Do you have any security features enabled on the router.  Is MAC address filetering enabled?  If so, have you entered the MAC address of the new network card into the table of allowed MAC addresses on the router?  Is the SSID of the router being broadcast?  If so, can you see it if you view the wireless connections?  If so, what happens when you try to connect?  Do you get an error message or a prompt for a security key?  Have you tried temporarily setting the router to its default settings (thus disabling MAC address filtering and security)?   If you reset the router, can you know connect?

Try to bring your laptop into a hotspot and see if it will connect. the other guy could be correct it could be the settings on the router that is not allowing yopu to connect on that router, maybe the the router is allowing only a certain computer thru its MAC address or it could be the other security settings :smileyhappy:

This is the exact problem I am having.  I connect fine at home.  Strong signal - no problems.

I bring my B130 to work and am sitting next to a Thinkpad user, he is on the Internet surfing along, I can see the access point but when I click on it to connect the 1370 cand goes off-line.  We have hundreds of reps that come in and use our WiFi, and the only ones that have problems connecting are users that have a Dell.  The router is an Aruba Networks unit, that is controled by corporate IT so re-setting it is not an option and because many other users are using it, doesn't sound like an issue.

All of the computers that are having problems have been purchased in the last 2 months.  Anyone have any idea?

Also, in all cases the Dell has no problem connecting at home or even at Hotspots (Coffee shops).

I am having a similar problem connecting to an Aruba 52 AP with a Latitude D620 and a Latitude D820 both w/ Dell Wireless1390 cards. Neither will connect ... but people with D-Link and Linksys cards can connect all day so Aruba says not their problem.

I called Dell and asked if there are known problems connecting to Aruba or if they had a fix.  They said they didn't know who Aruba was.  Great!
