Broadband Connection Issues.
So, my connection was working okay to begin with.
I installed some devices from my old computer. A printer (Deskjet 710c whose drivers I got from the net) and a scanner (HP ScanJet 4200c, drivers also from the net). The second of the two recommended I didn't install it as it wasn't Windows XP proof tested but at the time I had little choice as it was needed. Anyway, since then I have had three blue screen error messages. The first two times after rebooting the PC, an error report sent me to this url
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=7bb6cd7e-6a00-4a93-b1e1-85a6a49ca57e&SID=1543 and the third time the error report sent me to this url
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=b7cf612f-002a-48f9-8faf-50fe92518ffc&SID=1445
- I unfortunately can't remember that what, at the time, caused these errors.
I've since removed the scanner driver and unplugged it from the USB port as my broadband connection was disconnecting every 4-5 minutes, just for 10 seconds or so with the a 'Local Area Connection 2. A Network Cable is Unplugged.' message popping up near the clock down there, and I assumed this was the problem. However the ''Always On'' broadband connection is still temperamental.
Could have installing that driver permanately messed up my computer? Is the glausb.sys file corrupt and is there a way of fixing it?
I'm with AOL and have tried their Live Help to be met consistently with, ''Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?'' and ''Is everything connected firmly?''. I HAVE tried that many times. I know the problem goes deeper than that as I am getting a connection, it's just not working properly.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Joe.
