C800 - PCI Simple Communications Controller

Having a problem finding the right driver for this, experience tells me this is a modem yet W2k will not recognize either the Actiontec or 3Com driver as the proper modem for this device, no pcmcia cards, no other external devices plugged in. Even tried the nic driver. Do not know what else to try.

Thank you for your help !

Its been almost 2 years since this message was posted. I'm new here, but I guess I'm not going to get any help installing my new Ethernet card on my Dell C800. If Brian hasn't gotten any help in two years, what did he do??????????????????

Windows2000 still doesn't find a driver for the PCI Simple Communications Controller in August of 2005

On a Latitude D810, I was able to resolve the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" by installing a Texas Instruments PCMCIA driver, available from Dell as R88093.exe.

If you had a Latitude D610 and you received this error, then here is the fix for it.

It could be this smart card controller.  I had a similar issue on my D610. Maybe same for your Latitude.

The device controller is Texas Instruments PCI6515 Flash Memory/Smart Card Controller

Download the following driver from Dell.  R111541.EXE.

Go to http://support.dell.com and search for the Latitude D610 drivers and downloads.
This driver is under "Chip Set"  It is the Texas Smart Card Driver.

The R111541.exe is a self-extrating zip file.  It will automatically install the driver for the device.

This is it!!

OK, next you want to know how I found this?
Simple, googled the following information: PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_8038&REV_00 drivers.

This is from the properties from Device manager.
The website is:   http://www.pcidatabase.com/ and I just scrolled down the list and found the above information and whla!!!!
