Can one PC affect the Router's connection to another PC?

Might be a dumb question, but I have two PCS connected to a wireless router. I'm periodically getting dumped from the internet connection, even though the signal strength to the router remains strong; so no loss of connection to the router. When it happens to one, it happens to both computers. I'm looking to the router to be the problem here, but could it be possible that one of the PCs is actually causing the router to "dump" both? In trying to solve my problem, I've been focusing on the router, but I'm wondering if a PC could actually "affect" the router's connection to BOTH PCs.

Thanks.

If both computers are being assigned the same IP address, I can see one machine going down. But if that was a case WINXP would let you know right away. I doubt the connection is going down because two computers are connected to it. That would be really rare unless your router isn't providing sufficient bandwidth.

Thank you; I thought it would be a stretch. I was having consistent problems with a router dropping a connection; I've returned the router for a replacement. After a week of trying to determine the problem, we've decided it was a hardware issue.

Thank you for your reply.
