Please give more info on what kind off wireless card you have(Model Number)..But anyways you can try to add a profile in the wireless connection properties..
One of the settings can switch from "Open" to "Shared" and sometimes the alternate selection makes a connection work for me.
Also, make sure you specify "Infrastructure" and not peer network (ad-hoc).
Is Windows managing your connections?
Do you use proprietary software?
Here we enter the WEP in 128-bit at 26 characters (hex); however, I 'never' type it because here is how I store the key.
Run wordpad
Set the font size to something large like 16 point (makes it easier for me to check for a mistake in typing).
Type the 26 characters and make sure you use the CAP lock key. Even though it makes no sense, some systems will not accept lower-case letters. We have a C and an F in ours and I always make both capitals, even though that makes not sense. When lower case does not work the system gives NO error message about it. It just fails.
Press [Enter]
Then hold down SHIFT while moving the up arrow once to highlight the entire 26-character text.
Ctrl - C to copy that text to the clipboard.
Do a "Save As" and point to Desktop (or whatever you want as destination) and select the default 'Document' name (but not the dot and rtf extension) then
Ctrl - V to paste the key in as the name of that file.
Once you close the wordpad, to obtain the WEP key after going to the desktop, all one has to do is RIGHT-click the name of the file and (pretending) select 'Rename'
Then Ctrl-C which copies the key to the clipboard.
With the software you use, if there are two places to put the key then instead of typing, just click in the first and Ctrl-V to paste
press Tab
Ctrl-V in the second and then Apply or Finish or Ok
