Com 1 Port is in use when I restart the computer

My Palm Pilot is connected to Com 1 Port and and whenever I restart the computer and whn i reach the desk top I get the same error message, that com port is in use.

 

I have tried resetting the Bios screen that is load defaults.

and after disconnecting the palm pilot i still get the same message and its not allowing me to do anything and this all started happening only after the  changing the processor fan by the onsite tech.

 

I have also tried changing the comport settings manually from the modem properties windows but still shows com 1 is in use. I get this error message after loading windows that is on the Normal desktop.

 

Do you guys have any idea how to fix this problems. Any help would be appreciated... and its Dimension 8400
