Commanding RG-1000 56K Modem Connect with XP

I currently use the RG-1000 (same as TrueMobile 1150) built in 56K modem for wireless internet access from laptops running both Windows XP Pro and Windows 98.

The Win98 machine is a Latitude CPi with an Orinoco Gold Card.  On that machine I can manually command the RG-1000 to BOTH connect AND disconnect from my Internet provider by selecting Client Manager ==> RG Modem ==> Connect / Disconnect on the Windows Taskbar.

Is there any way on Windows XP to manually connect and disconnect the dial up connection?  The disconnect only seems to occur after timing out the idle time specified in RG setup.  Is that true?

I'm hoping to upgrade my Latitude to a Windows XP machine (e.g. Inspiron 8600) but need to retain the ability to manually command the modem connection.

Thanks in advance for any help.

JeffDK,

This download (R43868A.EXE) claims compatibility with XP. Since I don't have one, I can't check to see if they've removed the modem connect/disconnect feature. Since all control of the Orinoco gateways/access points is done with SNMP, I don't see why the feature would be dependent on the operating system being used.
