Connecting to VPN disables Internet Browsing with Internet Explorer

Please accept my apology for posting to this board, but I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that someone will be able to help me out.

My problem is whenever I connect to the VPN (to check my work email), Internet explorer becomes unable to browse websites, although Netscape and Mozilla still can surf to the same pages. The problem started when I upgraded to Earthlink Hi Speed Internet. When I had the dial-up service, I never faced this problem.

I'd appreciate any well-informed suggestion to fix this problem.

Thank you.

More than likely it is a security setting within IE that needs to be lowered just a bit.  Tools>Internet Options>Security.

As a follow up to my previous post, I found that after deleting my previous VPN connection setup and reestablishing it, everything was as smooth as before. Maybe it was something at the server side that was changed, or maybe it was my switch from dial-up to broadband, I don't know. But I just thought about re-establishing the VPN and that solved my problems, at least for the time being. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
