DELL WIRELESS 5560 HSPA + Mobile broadband Mini-Card - Win 8
Good morning everyone.
I have a big problem with ultrabook "YOUR 3460."
I updated the S.O. Windows 8, but the "DELL WIRELESS 5560 HSPA + Mobile Broadband Mini-Card" does not work.
On the website of DELL, I found a type of driver, but installing it in the device manager, does NOT recognize the card. How do I proceed? Can someone help me, please? Tomorrow I need to connect mobile ...
Thank you.

I've spent a few hours with this and can only conclude that the Windows 8 driver do not work! Windows 7 driver can be installed, but Dell Mobile Manager can't access the card.
The reason I uninstalled the Windows 7 driver was that it occasionally bluescreened the computer. Thx for that!
So, when do you make a driver that works for windows 8???????????? My users cry for Windows 8 (yes, for real) but I can't roll it out.

Good Day
I have a Dell Vostro 3460 with a Dell WWAN card Dw5560.
I have the same problem.
I have installed the latest MB Bios
followed all the advice above.
I can see the device in device manager - the driver is not the issue.
The Dell Mobile Wireless broadband software does NOT recognize the WWAN card - it sais no device
but the device is in Divice manager.
Why did Windows 8 ship without mobile broadband software pre-installed?
I have logged support call and no answers yet, I am starting to freak out

I phoned Dell Tech support again and the tech I spoke to had the answer in 3 minutes.
I cant believe the first support technician did not know that Windows 8 does not require mobile broadband connection software. You just click on the network icon next to the clock and a list of available connections appear, select your service provider's shortcut and dial. so simple I cant believe i missed it myself, i was over complicating the issue.
and the first tech support call took more than a month with no solution ........

Hi, forum.
I have dell e6430.
1. purchases modem wwan card from ebay. (30 GBP) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330942544816?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 so so seller, but certainly the best price and exact modem.
2. opened the case (be carefull) and inserted it (2 options, for longer and smaller, I used longer)
3. Will appear under Device Manager (? DW5560), before it wasn't there.
4. Install the driver via driver navigator application (tried with dell, but that software could not give needed result)
5. Should appear in device manager as green (installed).
6. Reboot.
7. My 3G internet is optional on right side botom corner near all wireless networks.
Enjoy.
What I notices in LV 3g internet via WWAN is faster than via usb modem.
Best wishes from Latvia.

Hello,
I have E6430 with 32- bit Win7 and it was purchased without Mobile Broadband module.
Now, I added Dell Wireless 5550 HSPA+ card (and try also instal 5550 card wich is in my E6420)
Card 5560 works just but without GPS in my E6430.
The drivers can not be downraded...
I get a following message:
Installshield has detected that the program, Dell Wireless HSPA Mini-Card Driver version (7.02.007) is already installed.
This installation program will install the program Dell Wireless HSPA Mini-Card Driver earlier version (7.1.0.3).
You must uninstall the previous version before installing this version.
May I have help with this problem?
Regards
Pete

Hello,
Seems, history is lopping back with W10...
I am a user of 3y old E6530 w/ 5560 WWAN card installed. It worked 100% fine until mid of August when I've got a stupid idea to upgrade to W10. Since then 5560 doesn't work.
All the latest updates and drivers installed. W10 installed twice: once as an upgrade from W7, second as a clean install. Works everything but 5560 WWAN (surprisingly, GPS is working fine).
Did someone get similar issue/behavior? Any idea how to deal with it?
I contacted local support mid of August but, only what they have in their Q&A manuals is just (1) to repeat all the questions already answered, (2) to answer as often as once a week (waiting for a drivers update meanwhile...?) and (3) (just got this hint today) to request OS reinstallation.

I also did a clean install of Windows 10 and can see the Dell Wireless 5560 connection, In the notification area it says "Insert SIM". Is that what you see also? At what point do you encounter a problem? Unfortunately I can't test because I inserted the simcard incorrectly and it's stuck in the slot ;0)

Hi,
I can see it under USB devices, sensors (GPS) and other devices (WWAN itself w/o driver).
It doesn't appear under smart card nor network adapters however - screen dump attached.
I already tried all the regular tricks to install driver but failed.
Maybe I will decide to do another clean W10 install but it will depend on my determination level :-)

The driver installed automatically during the clean install, screenshot attached. You can see it's the Microsoft driver, I wonder if there is a way to download it directly and install? Another thing you can try is to run the Dell Command Update utility

On a clean install of Windows 10 I had GPS working but not mobile internet. I installed an old v6,2 driver for 5150 card., to get it working but was annoyed that GPS was no longer working so tried upgrading, now nothing works.
That firmware update makes sense, perhaps the new drivers are looking for the new firmware and not installing correctly. As it stands that firmware update doesn't install under Windows 10 and I'm not installing windows 7 just to install firmware to that mobile card.
Laptop is E6230 card is 5160
The german forum I used was this one; use google translate (chrome) http://tinyurl.com/neoy443http://www.xps-forum.de/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=12452&pageNo=1&s=972470730c5df434376e5b98e9f572bc3545f089

So you have to revert to windows 7 or 8 to update the modem firmware

Yes, I had to.
However, as I don't use regular HDD my PC came with (I upgraded to SSD same day), it was enough to replace SSD w/ an ancient HDD to get back to W7.
BTW. Same story w/ USH sensor facing same issue of not being recognized by W10 – I used file “CV_Setup_46KM0_A28_ZPE.exe” (Yes, W8 again…) to upgrade firmware; working fine since then.
W10 is definitely RC at maximum; I would say early Beta...

Okay, had a spare hard drive to install temporary copy of Windows 7 (so I didn't have to reinstall Win10) , installed SP1 and DOTNET FIX 4.0 + 4.5 plus java to get the firmware programs to run successfully.
As soon as I booted into Windows 10 both the finger print scanner and mobile SIM broadband were working, well chuffed now.
Had to rescan my fingers to get it to recognise them.
