DSL Nightmare- need XP driver for CNET Pro200WL

Help!
I have been trying to connect a new DSL account for way too many days. Using a Dimension 8200 desktop with CNET Pro200WL ethernet adaptor and trying to hook up to Westell VersaLink 327W (I am going to buy a laptop as soon as I get this computer hooked up).
The ethernet driver that came with this system was for Windows 98, but I have XP. Link Status= disconnected. NIC card passes all tests. Versalink passes all tests run by Verizon. I tried to set up a LAN for Internet use, as the ethernet connection is the CNET card. However, I keep getting the red X in the bottom left corner of the desktop screen and the message is "Network Cable Unplugged." The ethernet cable really is plugged in. I have tried three brand new cables with the same message each time. (My current dial-up modem is a Conextant HSF V92 56k- it works fine, albiet slow.) This is the first time I am trying to set up DSL. I also checked to make sure the CNET was seated properly. It is, and the speed light is solid green. No activity on the link/act led.
I guess my question is, where to I get a driver for CNET that is XP compatible? Does anyone have suggestions to get this beast working?
Thanks!

Can you get at a 2000 driver?  If not, you might as well ditch that old modem and get a new one.

According to the manufacturer's home page, the drivers are included in XP.

I have not been over their entire site, but you might find a downloadable copy there. At least a good starting point.

Do you do a complete reset of the modem (power) when you are trying to get it to work?

Yes, I have unplugged and pressed the reset button on the side of the Westell.

Try (a different) PCI card in the Dell Dimension. I have read some incompatibility notes (general, with certain Dell hardware and that brand modem).
