Dell TrueMobile 1300 with Gentoo Linux and 2.6.3 Kernel

Hello all, I have read some posts about people being able to get their dell truemobile wireless cards to work with Linux. Unfortunately for me, I have tried both the ndiswrapper and the linuxant ways of trying to get the wireless card to work, but nothing. The ndiswrapper returns false information about signal stregnth and cannot get an IP address from a DHCP server, and the linuxant driver does not even pick up the card at all. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone else even knows where I can buy a compatible mini-pci card to swap out this one with a new one.

Thank you all ahead of time for the help!!

The Atheros chipset cards eork well with MadWifi (i have of of these). Also, the Senao based cards available from netgate.com are EXTREMELY powerful and linux friendly.

What system are you using? I have the Inspiron 5100 using the truemobile 1300 dual booting between Windows XP Pro and Mandrake Linux 9.2. I too tried the NDISWrapper which is a piece, but I installed the Linuxant Driverloader and it works flawlessly if you follow the directions listed on the web site. ??? Rebooted went in configured the linux system to use DHCP and bam i was connected. Maybe a gentoo problem, by the way I'm using the stock Kernel in Mandrake.
