Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz) Problems

So I bought my girlfriend a DELL Laptop Inspiron 15 i3543-6000SLV  with windows 10  for this last Christmas. She's had nothing but problems with the wifi disconnecting. It seems to disconnect every hour or so till she has to trouble shoot the problem in windows. I've tried everything i could think of to fix the problem.

Things i have tried inclued

1. Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling

2. Uninstalling and restarting the computer.

3. Changing the power options for the wifi card

4. Resting the router (All other devices work fine)

5. Trying an older driver

Ive seen a couple posts about having problems on windows 10 which is what this laptop came with. So I hope thats not the problem as I im not willing to go back to windows 7 on it. I bought this laptop with windows 10 and they should be sure that everything works before selling it to the consumer.

Hi,

Sorry for the problems you're having with that system out of the box.   Check out these links that I think should help you resolve the problem you're seeing.

Resolving Connection Issues on Your Wi-Fi Network for Windows 10

Wireless Networking for the Home for Windows 10

Which power settings did you change?  Check out lines 5 through 8 under the Dell wireless adapter section.  Are those the power settings / adjustments that you tried?

One other thing, you said you reset the router but did you also check to see whether it has an updated firmware from it's manufacturer that you can install as well?   Many routers need updates to work with some of the newer cards and chipsets coming out for Windows 10.   (Another quick question, do you see the same behavior on public networks, such as coffee houses, as you do on your home network?)

Let me know about the power settings from the first link, and if you've tried the laptop on other networks.  To more efficiently troubleshoot this problem please click my Dell Todd username and send me a private message with the Dell service tag of the system you just bought.  Please keep all troubleshooting here in this message board so others can see what we try and how to resolve their problems.

I had had the same issue. Reading in a lot of forums, I read a smart analysis. It seems that after windows 10 upgrades, there are possible certain problems with Network drivers, so the suggestion: Go to Intel website, and search for downloadcenter ( here the link:  downloadcenter.intel.com  )  , then you can download and use Intel's tool to check your drivers and upgrade them if necessary. I did it and since then not issue at all.  I hope this can be the solution for many of us.

I also have the same problem. Mine is a XPS 8700 Win 8.1 with Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz). I have been getting intermittent connections and I have tried nearly everything that I could think courtesy of google searches: Power options to maximum, uncheck power management, factory reset routers, updating drivers, changing to google dns, etc.

My problem is that my wifi would give me a the yellow triangle symbol(the no internet connected one) every couple minutes to hours, yet the wifi is working perfectly fine. I could only fix this by disconnecting my wifi and then reconnecting to the same one but it is extremely annoying as when I am playing games or something, I would have to relaunch the game because of the disconnection only to disconnect a couple minutes after. My little brother literally sits next to me with the same computer and he has never disconnected off the wifi so I am not sure what the problem is.
