Dell Wireless 1705.802.11b/g/n - Issue

Hi,

I have the above adapter in a new Dell Inspiron 17 - 5749, Windows 8.1.

Firstly, can someone confirm if this can connect to the router via 5Ghz - instead of just 2? Seems strange that every other device can except for this new laptop.

Secondly, and I guess this is the most important thing - it keeps dropping the connection with the router even though 3 out of 5 bar Wifi strengh is always shown.

Please can you help - thanks.

Gary,

Dell Wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHZ) will connect on 2.4GHz ONLY.

Try these tweaks....

Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your network adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Windows and x keys at the same time, power options, choose when to turn off the display, change advanced power settings. Change the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.
