Error 50: Request not supported

Question

After removing the Sasser Worm, my connection to ATT Worldnet no longwer works. I tried reinstalling Windows XP with service pack 1a, the modem drivers and the ATT software. The modem passes it own tests. Hyperterminal is able to connect. However, when trying to connect to ATT's registration server, I get the error message 'Error 50: Request Not Supported.' Any suggestions?

I was unable to find any help on this problem during many websearches. However, I was able to fix the problem myself. After trying practically everything suggested on many bulletin boards and webpages, here is what finally worked. I disabled all antivirus software and installed ATT Worldnet connection software without uninstalling it first. My guess is that the anti-virus software was preventing the ISP software from installing properly. I hope that my journey of discovery helps someone else.
