Gigabit express card wrong IP from DHCP?

Hi,

I tried to install a Linksys EC1000 gigabit express card in my Inspiron 1720. However it does not adopt the IP provided by the DHCP-server.
The server gives 192.168.178.32 to a device with the same MAC as the gigabit adapter has. (So I guess it actualle IS the gigabit adapter :-)
However when looking at the details of the network connection it says DHCP: Yes, IPv4: 169.254.110.120

Of course no connection to the local network or the internet can be established.

How can I make the gigabit adapter use the IP-adress provided by the DHCP-server?

I also tried to manually set the IP-adress to the adress provided by the server. There is also no success.

By the way, my OS is Vista Ultimate.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Regards

Hi,

problem is solved: The card didn´t pass its MAC-adress to the computer. I added the adress manually in the hardware-manager (systemmanager of windows). Now it works fine.

I´m not sure, but I guess this is a bug, as normally it should never forget its MAC-adress?!

Regards!
