How do I enable my onboard Ethernet?

Here's one for you. I know it works becuase I've been downloading on it with no problems. Anyway, my brother messed about with my BIOS now I cant get the ethernet to work.

I've been in the BIOS F2 then ALT-P and I cant see which screen you use to enable your Ethernet or NIC.

Also, how come there isn't an option in the BIOS to restore the factory defaults?

Any help would really be appreciated?

Cheers

To restore the bios to factory defaults, press ALT-E with the lock lights (caps lock etc...) all on when in the bios. I believe theres an integrated devices section somewhere in the bios, and from memory thats where you'll find the nic listed.

On second thoughts, you may need to press ALT-F to return to factory defaults. And you probably don't need the lock lights on either.

Hi,

You havnt said what model, but try Alt "F" in the Bios, Alt "E" is for the field you are in. If the date and time change, everthing is back to the start. The keyboard lights dont need to be on, thats normally for a desk top. You could also look in device manager, you may be able to start it there. Some Bios settings can be changed from within the OS.
