How do I know if person opened my email?

I have outlook express for my email. I have forwarded several messages from my sent box and inbox to the same person who is denying ever receiving them. When I tried to forward these messages to my email address, there was no problem. Also, I never received notification from outlook that messages were not delivered. I think the person is handing me a line, as it has to do with an ebay deal. Is there a way to know whether the person has opened your mail? I thought I saw something like that under tools, maybe, but I couldn't get it to work. If you have any advice, please let me know. THANKS! lexi

Yes, I think that's what I was looking at. But, it doesn't help if the receiver won't accept receipt verification. That's the problem...the receiver doesn't want me to know that she IS getting my emails!

I don't use Outlook Express, so can't directly help. Many readers have an option to request a return receipt. The receiver of the message must agree to the return receipt, but if he does, it does provide you with verification that the email was received.

Outlook probably has something equivalent.

I don't generally use eBay, so don't have much to suggest:

1) Can you contact the person through the eBay site rather than directly through email?

2) Can you ask eBay to assist?

In addition to the user not choosing to reply the Read receipt request, some webmail servers do not respond to such a request either.

Microsoft Outlook can also request a Delivery receipt in addition to a Read receipt, but again, not all mail servers can or will respond to that, even then a Delivery receipt is by no mean conclusive that the message reaches the recipient's computer.
