How do I remove my modem

Can anybody help I have tried to contact dell support as I get the blue screen with Bad_Pool_Caller I have been advised to remove my modem but there is nothing in the manual to tell you how to do this. I have a dimension 2400 and any help would be gratefully accepted All I want to do is remove the modem

Hi Jim1888,

Michael C. gave you the directions to remove your modem or PCI card from your computer. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2400/en/sm_en/cards.htm

Here are a few things to do before you take out the modem. You need to go to the Control panel> System>Hardware>Device Manager and find the modem on your device list > right click>then disable. The next step is to go >Control Panel> Remove& Add Programs> Remove modem software. Now shut down your computer, and follow the directions in the link.

jim1888,

Just follow the same instructions for removing the cards, that's all the modem is, another card.

Thank you for your replies but is there more than one card or is there just a modem card there because you also get sound cards etc. Thanx again everybody

You may have a variety of cards installed in your PCI slots.  Sound card and modem to name a few.  The easiest way is to look at the back of the system for the card with the phone jack plug-ins on it.  That will be the modem.
